  • The Town of Carrboro continues to provide services and respond to the needs of our community in alignment with North Carolina’s Safer at Home, Orange County and guidance from public health officials. We send regular email updates on the Town’s response and community resources related to COVID-19. See all Town news and sign up for updates
  • The Town of Carrboro has created a summary of its use of federal CARES Act funds including support for Carrboro residents who have been affected by the pandemic.

Testing Available 

The Orange County Health Department offers regular testing events, including: 

  • Monday-Saturday Testing Chapel Hill:
    COVID-19 testing is available every weekday Monday through Saturday from 9am to 6pm at R7 Parking Lot at 725 MLK Blvd., Chapel Hill, NC 27514. Pre-registration is encouraged and may be done online: 

Testing will be drive through or walk up. Anyone can receive a test regardless of whether they are showing symptoms or are a close contact of someone positive for the virus. Registration is on site, and the nasal swab tests are billed to insurance or provided free to those without insurance.

Recovery Planning

The Orange County Long-Term Recovery Group is creating a plan for recovery from COVID-19 to help strengthen the community for all people. A survey was conducted to identify community values that will help shape the county’s path forward. The survey results are being used to guide the creation of a disaster recovery plan to increase the resilience of the community.

Community resilience is a community’s ability to withstand and recover from disruptions like natural disasters, accidents or attacks through individual and community preparedness. More information:

Family Assistance 

  • Inter-Faith Council (IFC) serves dinner for pickup, Monday to Friday, 6:15 to 7pm at 100 W. Rosemary Street. Lunch is offered daily at 100 W. Rosemary Street. Monday to Saturday from 11:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and Sunday 12:15 to 1:30 p.m. Any household may receive a week’s worth of groceries once per month. Call 919-6380 and press 0, or visit to make an appointment.
  • Carrboro Farmer’s Market is offering $10 vouchers to people experiencing unemployment. One voucher per visit (must show proof of unemployment). Also offering "triple bucks" for customers who use EBT, WIC FMNP or Seniors FMNP (ex: $20 in EBT is $60 at the market). If you’re out of benefits on your card, they will also match cash.
  • TABLE is delivering bags of food to families with children in the Chapel Hill Carrboro City School system. PORCH Chapel Hill-Carrboro has a food program for families with children in the Chapel Hill Carrboro City Schools. If you have children who attend school in Chapel Hill or Carrboro, contact to ask about enrollment options.
